Photo Week: Roller Derby!

Canon 7d, ISO: 12,800 <----believe it!

Motion Thursday. This week features a trip to the local arena for two roller derby bouts. A great scene, great action, I do wish they’d just turn on the lights! See it bigger in the Photo Week Archives.

Photo Week: Vancouver 2010 @ The WSC

Canon G7 and iPhone

This week features a week long adventure as a fan, spectator, and visitor at the Winter Olympics in Whistler. Gotta love those connections, i had a wonderful week with AP friends wining, dining, and enjoying all that makes the Olympics a wonderful event. This particular selection highlights the highlight of my visit to the Whistler Sliding Center (WSC) to watch the 2-man women’s bobsled finals. Great sport, amazing access, and unbelievably sore calves from hiking the entire length of the track and back. See it a little bigger. And what adventure would be complete without a Prague sighting?

crazy fast

iPhone Photo

Motion Thursday. Wow these women are crazy, and wow these sleds go super fast!! I had to laugh at so many people trying to make a photo with their point and shoot digital cameras and phones. To actually get a sled in the frame, you have to push the button well before you even see the sled, but when it works, it’s cool!! If i had a looney for every time i heard, “oops i missed it” id have enough for the 3-foot stuffed Quatchi!

shannon falls

Canon G7, Iso: 100, Manual (M), 1/60s, f/8.0, Exposure compensation: -1.

As waterfalls go, Shannon Falls, just south of Squamish, B.C., is one of the best i’ve seen! All things working for it, big, pretty, flowing, easily accessible, multiple clear vantage points, excellent waterfall noise, well done Shannon!

flow…

Canon G7, Iso: 200, Manual (M), 1/15s, f/8.0.

A good flow indeed! I’ve entered Canada –legally– through a tertiary border crossing with a dog chewed massachusetts license, a passport expiring in 13 days, a borrowed car, a severely cracked windshield, a friend’s whistler hotel confirmation, and a paper map to find my way. This adventure is going to be MOST excellent.
