Photo Week: On Collins Pond

The first kayak of the season was delightful, the G7 performed brilliantly in its underwater housing and the frogs posed nicely for their close ups on Collins Pond in Harold Parker State Park. See it a little bigger at The Photo Week.
Photo Week: Whale Watching

This week features a boating adventure out to see the whales in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. The trips are different every time, but they are always sensational. No breeching this time around, but we were detained by a very curious humpback whale for quite some time! See it a little bigger and catch up on what you’ve been missing in the Photo Week Archives
Photo Week: Stevens-Coolidge Place

I took a moment to stop and visit the flowers this week at the Stevens-Coolidge Place here in North Andover. It was a little past prime but the colors, shapes, and sizes were still sensational. Take a peek at a slightly bigger image:
the future

Robin hatchlings expected in 2-3 days.
Photo Week: Goslings

This week features a brood of goslings from my local business park. Go find yourself some goslings, they are incredibly entertaining to watch!
Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Along with the 13 zoos in 12 days, we managed a visit to a heron rookery and bald eagle nesting site in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Thanks for the personal tour guiding, Amy!
Photo Week: Signs of Spring
Canon G7

The temperature is rising, the floods are over, the tree buds are popping, the tulips and daffodils are sprouting, lawnmowers (and in our case, chainsaws) are fired up, and the PEEPS are here! The signs of spring are here (and bigger here)
tree creature
Canon Mark III, 100-400 zoom lens.

Jpeg rustled this creature up from somewhere and chased it up a tree. What is it? Im in an Eastern Massachusetts locale, I’d guess a ground hog, but it was a pretty adept climber!
The Huntress. Covered in dirt after a full day outside. A much needed romp after three days of horizontal rain.
visibility
Canon G7, Iso: 200, Aperture Priority (AV), 1/640s, f/4.0.
Fog descends on Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler, B.C. Crazy weather, i think there was blue sky and sun behind me!
shannon falls
Canon G7, Iso: 100, Manual (M), 1/60s, f/8.0, Exposure compensation: -1.

As waterfalls go, Shannon Falls, just south of Squamish, B.C., is one of the best i’ve seen! All things working for it, big, pretty, flowing, easily accessible, multiple clear vantage points, excellent waterfall noise, well done Shannon!
