Photo Week: On Collins Pond

The first kayak of the season was delightful, the G7 performed brilliantly in its underwater housing and the frogs posed nicely for their close ups on Collins Pond in Harold Parker State Park. See it a little bigger at The Photo Week.

Photo Week: Stevens-Coolidge Place

I took a moment to stop and visit the flowers this week at the Stevens-Coolidge Place here in North Andover. It was a little past prime but the colors, shapes, and sizes were still sensational. Take a peek at a slightly bigger image:

and on the 10th day….

….we drove east…..and north, and east…..and east.
Heron, Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
And found a new zoo!! Ohhhh…..Oh 11 zoos in 12 days just got bigger!!
Zoo # 11 of 11 zoos in 12 days. The National Aviary, Pittsburgh.
Should we drive a few 30 miles out of the way to tack on another zoo? Why not? More like, Hell Yes!! What better way to breakup a 600 plus driving day but with a visit to ANOTHER zoo, a surprising and charming 2 hour visit at that, at the National Aviary! Seriously impressive Pittsburgh, Bravo… You had us at The Pittsburgh Zoo, we might just have to come back to your fine city again! As my co-pilot pointed out though, this DOES throw off the symmetry of 11 zoos in 12 days! With one maybe 2 to go, I’m not sure what to make of 12 in 12 days, or 13 in 12…. Do i hear 14 in 13?

Photo Week: Signs of Spring

Canon G7

The temperature is rising, the floods are over, the tree buds are popping, the tulips and daffodils are sprouting, lawnmowers (and in our case, chainsaws) are fired up, and the PEEPS are here! The signs of spring are here (and bigger here)

tree creature

Canon Mark III, 100-400 zoom lens.

Jpeg rustled this creature up from somewhere and chased it up a tree. What is it? Im in an Eastern Massachusetts locale, I’d guess a ground hog, but it was a pretty adept climber!

The Huntress. Covered in dirt after a full day outside. A much needed romp after three days of horizontal rain.
